Body Forming
Body Forming
what factors account for the differences in body forms of fishes?
some types of body forms are: fusiform (torpedo shaped), globiform (globe shaped), anguilliform (serpentine or eel-like). and more. this is for my Ichthyology lab report, thanks in advance for the help
Simply put; adaptation to environmental niches which have allowed for survival and reproduction of the species.
For example; torpedo-shaped animals are built for open water speed allowing them to hunt and evade predators, globiform is a low-maneuverability defensive shape which allows the animal to lodge themselves in crevices become more intimidating or harder to swallow, and anguiliform allows an animal to attack from hidden places, and find protection in from predators in crevices.
