What to eat before a morning jog to avoid muscle being burn?
Hi, many say go for an empty stomach jog, i know that it will help speed up Fat Burn, but will it do the same to the muscle cells too? My friends ask me go get some protein before the jog, is that true?
If your goal is to preserve muscle while losing fat then firstly you need to evaluate the running you are doing.
To maintain muscle you need to keep the exercise HIGH in INTENSITY and LOW in DURATION. Luckily High Intensity exercise is also good for fat loss.
Forget about the fat burning zone. True, while exercising in the FBZ you will burn more fat. However, by increasing the intensity of your exercise Your Body will continue to consume calories at an elevated rate for up to 24 hours after you finish training and research has found this will burn more fat than merely training in the fat burning zone.
Try running first thing in the am, yes on an empty stomach. If you want a light protein snack should be OK. But to avoid muscle loss you have to get the INTENSITY UP and the DURATION LOW.
There is a reason all top marathoners have thin frames. Long Slow Distance training is great for aerobic fitness by bad for keeping muscle size.
