Cup Heat

Cup Heat
What cup conducts heat styrofoam cups, plastic cups or glass cups?

We had a lab and we were suppose to see what cup conducts heat and I think the glass cup conducts heat.. I think my teacher thinks other wise.. What’s your opinion and why?

Styrofoam is an insulator, and keeps something warm or cold by not letting the heat or cold leak out through the sides of the cup. Plastic is very porous so it will not insulate, though if you have lots of heat around it, it will get in quickly (just don’t melt the cup in the process, because plastic has a low melting point). Glass heats itself up easily, and transfers heat inward quickly, and if you put Hot Water inside the glass it transfers it outward to your hand quickly through heating up the glass first. This is much like metal and other conductors. This is why I believe glass would be your correct answer.

Good Luck!
