I want to go hide my ugly light source, so I'm looking for something like a sheet of plastic that is invisible to go, but does not let visible light through. Any idea what I can get why it's cheap?

I think the material you are looking for is called polysulfone (spelling uncertain). It's the same black plastic that is used to encapsulate IR LED's. Most Common plastics and glasses absorb strongly in the infrared, so you have a difficult problem here. I have faint memories of long ago successfully using a exposed and developed piece of 35mm film for this purpose. I can not promise success, but I'm pretty sure that worked. Good luck …………..
