12 mile walk and 5 hours of roller blading?

Friday I walked 12 miles and then saturday I went roller blading for 5 hours straight. Im a pretty active 13 year old in general. If I do that every friday and saturday will I lose weight? Any estimates? I wanna tone my legs/arms/abdomens. Thank you very much.

If you want to lose weight, the way to do it is to eat fewer calories and burn more. You are way too young to knock yourself out sweating everything you eat, so you can handle that part by just eating a little less and using what you already know about less fat and sugar and more vegetables and proteins. Then, the fun part. Your ideas about walking and roller blading are great. However, you shouldn’t plan to walk 12 miles every Friday and rollerblade 5 hours every Saturday. Let’s face it, you just won’t do it. That’s 8 hours every weekend. Instead, just try to do it several times every single week.

People who want to get in shape and lose weight usually come in two types. One is the people who are very disciplines and can make themselves exercise on a regular basis. For them, it is usually good to keep track of the times or distances they put in, and then think about that when they are getting ready to eat. They won’t want to ruin all that great effort by eating everything in the house.

The other kind of people are ones who have an easier time eating well because they have a routine that works for them and people around them who help them eat well. When they start to see some progress in their Weight Loss goals because they are eating better, they start to see that they can not only be thinner but also more fit and toned. That gets them to work on getting out and exercising more.

Either way, neither one of them meets their goals unless they do both pieces of the puzzle – the better eating and the better exercising.

Your legs and abdomen will get where you want them to get just by good eating and doing the walking/skating. To tone your arms, you might want to try doing pushups. Have somebody show you the right way, and then do a few each day until you can work up to more. Don’t try to do 100 at one time, or even 20 at a time, if you haven’t been doing pushups before. Try 5. Then later in the day do 5 more. If you do that a few times each day, you will be getting stronger and better toned in your upper body before you know it.

The trick is to keep doing it. Don’t wear yourself out early by overdoing it. I have a feeling you will do GREAT!
