what can cause a sharp horrible pain in the lumbar region when palpated? feels like there is a mass in there..

Have been experiencing lower Back Pain, mostly when laying down, sitting, bending and twisting. Usually it is a dull throb with periods of sharp pains in the left side lumbar region. When I tried to massage my back to hopefully relieve some tension, I nearly went through the roof cause it hurt so bad to touch. I don’t know if it’s just a knot, but can that produce such intense pain?

Could be that you pulled a muscle, or it could be something worse…like something internal. If it hurts that bad, you should go to the dr. Not only can he tell you what is going on…he can probably give you something for the pain. Try to find a way to lay that isn’t absolutly killing you and get into the dr. asap. if you can not get into your regular dr. go tp urgent care. Good Luck
