I had an iSqueez Massager From Brookstone that broke. I bought a new one planning on returning the old as new?

Would I get caught doing this? The new one that I bought was bubble wrapped and taped up so if I just take out the new one carefully and then just bubble wrap and tape up the old one and put it back in the new box, would Brookstone open up the box and check the product to make sure it is new? Because my old one had a few small visible scratches, but I don’t think they would actually check, being that it is in bubble wrap and taped and in a box. Please help me out here…

You are not the only person in the world to have thought of this scam. Retail companies know what to look for when items are returned. As well, items have labels and tags with unique bar codes and inventory identifiers. They are not going to say “oh! well look at that, it’s all wrapped up in bubble wrap. Don’t even bother checking it, there’s, no way the customer would go to all that trouble just to cheat us..”

Oh, and if you used credit card for the first purchase, they have the information on file that you bought the exact same item earlier … Not hard to put two and two together.
