How could I build a model of Niagara Falls?

My daughter is in fourth grade and is doing a book report on how things work … She decides to Niagara Falls. Now, to show how Niagara, wanted to help her build a model, something like a waterfall that could create enough energy to light something … would this be possible? Any suggestions would be helpful … Thank you very much!
