Wedding planning for a very mixed guest list?

I’m starting to plan a wedding & I hate to say that I’m a huge people pleaser & I want everyone to enjoy my wedding, but that is just the kind of person I am. I have a very wide mix of people attending that range from raging alcoholics, to ultra religious & I’m so nervous for them to mix. I do want alcohol at my wedding, but I don’t want to offend those attendees who don’t drink. What’s a good way that I can control the environment. Should I have drink cards, 3 per person kind of thing?

At our wedding we also had a few people who enjoy getting drunk and some who didn’t drink alcohol because of their religion. So we had a cash bar (it’s normal and not offensive/ tacky where we are) but we made sure that everyone had all the fruit juice and water they wanted. The only alcohol that we paid for is Champagne for toasting (we had non-alcoholic options for those who had religious objections to alcohol). We had no problems with drunks because they knew that the prices at the venue were extremely high and most of them either left early or stayed more sober than usual. None of the religious people were offended by the drinking and everyone had fun.

But I agree with the other poster: The conservative people shouldn’t be offended, it’s a wedding and people drink at weddings. Maybe warn them that there will be drinking at the reception, idk.

If you’re really nervous about people being disruptive drunks then talk to either the wedding venue coordinator (if there is one) or else the Best Man and ask them to keep an out for disruptive behaviour and to handle it. Depending on the people and the behaviour this means anything from telling the guests that they’re being disruptive and asking them to stop whatever they’re doing, to taking them outside and sobering them up.

I’m all for pleasing people that you love but sometimes you need to step on toes if they’re not doing their best to please you on your special day!
