How to relieve sore quadricep muscles?

After working out the other day (doing heavy squats), my quads have been very tight/sore when I flex and run. I have a track meet coming up so what specific stretches and/or should i ice it or heat it?

you should ice it up
ice it up for twelve hours and then heat it up

let it rest be lasy or sum thig
