irrigation system problem (loss of pressure)?
Out of the blue I am having trouble maintaining pressure to my lawn irrigation system. I normally keep the valve closed that supplies my irrigation system until I need to use it. As of 3 days ago when I open the valve to the system, I suddenly lose pressure (drops from approx 50-60 psi to 5-10 psi with a noticable “clicking” noise). I can still hear the pipes filling with water however I get very little flow to the system. Occassionally the pressure doesn’t immediately drop but slowly goes down over the course of 1-2 minutes. When this occurs, water begins shooting out of random sprinklers (until the pressure drops down too far)… Does this sound like an air or water leak in the system? Could a pressure relief device be tripping? Any thoughts???
Sounds like not enough water to run your system. Is it true irrigation water? May have a blockage or a break in the irrigation lines before it reaches your lot. Could be that you are watering at the same time as many neighbors and the system can’t supply enough water, happens in subdivisions with pressurized delivery systems.
