Tips and techniques for group portraits with ultra wide angle lenses?

I just bought a lens 10-20mm APS-C Sigma and was wondering if there are good tips and techniques on the use of ultra wide-angle lenses like this for group photos. I do not want the proportions of the body is too exaggerated. I just want to capture a large part of the fund. Also, if I let the camera selects focus point automatically. I put a single focal point, and if so, should be a central focus or point out?

In general, you will again be enough to reduce any tendency for the facial features that are distorted. You will to shoot from an elevated position so that all faces can be seen. To focus, choose a third point in the group and shoot at an aperture of at least f / 8 or f/11 to draw the focus of the front row back.
