What are the symptoms of a sensor manual lever position?

In a Ford E4OD transmission 92 with the symptoms a manual lever position sensor out of adjustment be? And where I can get the adjustment tool to fix it if it is out of adjustment?

The needle on the dial is in the wrong place gear. You can get the adjustment in the linkage.
